We are helping the Fort Bend Democratic Party find precinct chairs.
Chairman Steve Brown has asked us to pass along the following message:
Have you ever considered being a precinct chair or neighborhood coordinator for the Democratic Party?
Precinct Chairs are the local elected (or appointed) leaders of the Democratic Party. Currently, well over half of the 145 precincts in Fort Bend are without Democratic precinct chairs. Absent this local level leadership, its difficult to keep voters engaged, informed and able to provide the needed visibility for our causes and candidates. Precinct Chairs are the bedrock of all local Party activity.
What do Precinct Chairs do? TDPPrecinctChairHandbook-2010.
· Serve on the County Executive Committee (CEC)
· Know your precinct and constituents
· Recruit Volunteers
· Canvass the precinct (blockwalks, phone bank, block partys, etc.)
· Increase the Democratic base (voter registration drives)
· Conduct the precinct convention
· Be a resource
· GET OUR VOTERS TO THE POLLS!
Neighborhood Coordinators assist the precinct chair in organizing Democrats in specific communities.
How do you become a Precinct Chair?
Please take a moment to review the Precinct Chair Database to see if there’s a precinct chair vacancy in your precinct. If not, reach out to your precinct chair to volunteer or assist in organizing your neighborhood. If so, please contact:

Cynthia can provide you with specific information on the roles of precinct chairs. Interested precinct chairs will have to be appointed by the Party Chair for the remainder of the 2010-2012 term.
The Fort Bend Democratic Party is a Party on the Move! Will you join us and begin to elect Democrats to local and state offices this November?
