TDP: Just Say No to Kesha Rogers

Following the lead of our own club’s Executive Manager who gave CD-22 LaRouche candidate Kesha Rogers the boot at our candidates’ forum last month, yesterday at a meeting of the SDEC committee members passed a resolution that effectively removes the Party from endorsing the candidacy of LaRouche Movement activist Kesha Rogers.

Not only will Rogers’ campaign not have the advantage of being supported by the Texas Democratic Party and its materials and database, no County Chair or Precinct Chair will be required to support this candidate because of her affiliation with a political group that has, in the past committed illegal acts, participated in thuggery, and endorsed ideas that are patently racist, sexist, or oppose the GLBT community.

I remember voting against two LaRouche-sponsored ballot propositions in two separate California elections that required all HIV-AIDS patients to be listed as carriers of an infectious disease, condemming them to lives of  joblessness and quarrantine.

Californians voted overwealmingly against it the first time but that didn’t deter the LaRoucheniks from getting the same propostion on the ballot two years later.

You can read the text of the resolution here.

So far there has been no reaction from the Rogers campaign but if past is prologue the statement will be that she has the support of the people and doesn’t need the support of political hacks.

Pete Olson, enjoy that job you are not doing in Washington for another 2 years.

See you in 2012.
