There is some misinformation on the Fort Bend Democratic Party website.  The temporary chairs of the three county senatorial conventions were duly and legally voted upon at the only county party meeting held since October of last year.

In senatorial district 17, Harrison Gregg, Jr. was elected temporary chair.  In senatorial district 13, Rodney Griffin and Evelyn Barnett were elected co-chairs.  Don Bankston was elected temporary chair of senatorial district 18.

This designation cannot be changed by the whim of any person or party official.  The people duly and legally elected by the precinct chairs in that district have been given the packets to conduct their conventions.  Since the meeting to canvas the vote held last Friday privately  and without proper notice to either the precinct chairs or all the run-off candidates, and that was the required meeting to set up the committees,  no convention committees have been approved.

We would hope that the lame duck county party chair would allow the process to be fair to all and follow the rules.

Party rules do not exist to be mean.  They exist to be make the process fair.
